The perception of the term activist journalism by czech journalists
Kumsová, Ilike ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Novotný, David Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis tries to anchor the term activist journalism on the basis of how Czech journalists perceive it. The thesis focuses on the historical development of objectivity, as well as the currents of journalism that deviate from it, global definitions of activism and advocacy, and these same definitions associated with branches of journalism. Objectivity and its relevance in 21st century journalism is included in the theoretical part of the thesis, along with a polemic. The practical part is devoted to qualitative semi-structured in-depth interviews with six Czech journalists and their understanding of objectivity, activism in journalism and other topics discussed in the theoretical part of the thesis. On their basis, the boundaries of Czech journalists' understanding of activist journalism are suggested as advocacy of correct opinion, absence of criticism (of a given topic) and concealment of reality are defined. At the same time, it was discovered that there is a split between what Czech journalists understand as activist journalism and its academic definition. Ilike Kumsová

Černá, Lucie ; Sláma, Milan (advisor) ; Kosek, Jan (referee)
Professional ethics in legal practice Key words: ETHICS, ADVOCACY, PROFESSIONAL ETHICS The primary subject of my diploma thesis is professional ethics related to carrying out advocacy in the Czech Republic and institutions related to the ethics of solicitors. The reason for my choice of the aforementioned subject is mainly my experience in a legal office, where I have encountered many positive and negative approaches to carrying out this profession, and also the public's interest in the ethics of advocacy, which is growing concurrently with the rising needs of citizens to use services by legal consultants and representatives. In the first chapter of my work I describe the key terms (ethics, morals, law), definition of which is fundamental for understanding the issue of professional ethics and I also outline the mutual relations between these terms. In the second chapter I briefly present the short but varied history of advocacy in the Czech Republic, which began in the 12th Century. The third chapter focuses on definition of the institute of professional ethics. The first part concerns professional ethics as a set of moral standards valid for a specific profession and the second part defines professional ethics in relation to carrying out advocacy. The third part of the third chapter is called the...

Trushko, Sviatlana ; Macková, Alena (advisor) ; Pohl, Tomáš (referee)
RESUMÉ THE PERFORMANCE OF A LEGAL PROFESSION (THE BAR) IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND IN BELARUS The aim of this thesis is to characterize the practice of law in the Czech Republic and Belarus. This theme was chosen because of the comparison of advocacy in both countries and also because of the limited number of literature sources about law practices and advocacy organization in Belarus, to at least briefly cover the operation of this Institute from the very beginning. Czech Republic and Belarus are democratic countries. Czech Republic is a parliamentary form of government. According to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus (1994) it is a presidential republic, with strong centralization of legislative, executive and judicial power in the hands of the president, as evidenced by presidential decrees, which significantly affects the advocacy activities and organization in Belarus. A common feature of both countries is the nature of the mission of advocacy - providing skilled and professional legal assistance in accordance with the law; serving the principles of legality and justice. This thesis is systematically divided into individual chapters. The first chapter defines the key terms related to the Advocacy Institute and the right to legal assistance in general. The second chapter is devoted to the...

Caletka, Lumír ; Kuklík, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Ladislav (referee)
Development of advocacy in Czechoslovakia 1918-1989 The thesis described and analysed the historical development of advocacy on the territory of Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1989. It took into account the previous historical period, thus the beginnings of advocacy in Roman law, the legal profession in our country till 1848 and the historical phase between 1848 and 1918, very important for Czechoslovakia, when the basic legal regulations were created which were first accepted by independent Czechoslovakia in an unchanged form and were modified over time. Along with the law of the Roman Empire, the Austria-Hungary law was crucial for the formation of the cornerstones of today's modern advocacy. The thesis also covered chapters that included the definition of basic and associated terms that relate to advocacy, and last but not least a description of the current legislation of advocacy as well. The base of the thesis was represented by a historic period since the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia, through the second Czech-Slovak Republic, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the short period after liberation and the communist regime from 1948 until after the revolutionary year of 1989, which, for the Czech advocacy, featured a return to democratic roots and First Republic's traditions of...

Bardová, Kristýna ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (advisor) ; Benyovszky, Selma (referee)
The main question of my thesis is what role non-profit organizations play in policies regarding Roma education in the Czech Republic. The thesis includes how these non-profit organizations can influence the policy. The research focuses on small groups of NGO's that support inclusive education in unspecialized schools. NGO's are active proponents of inclusion related politics, too. The research contains interviews with representatives or employers of these organizations, and it also looks into channels that represent the use in policy-making. The document presents what activists regard as effective instruments of policy-making, and which instruments activists consider as ineffective. The thesis comprises the difficulties and struggles these non-profit organizations encounter. The study tenders examples of policy-making in small groups of organizations, as well as possible ways NGO's advocate in the Czech state system. This thesis also compares inclusive education policy-making with other fields of policy-making. To conclude, this thesis analyzes the role of non-profit organizations and their ability to exert change at a policy level.
